This is a follow-on to the Palo Alto Library talk with "how to" demonstrations.
Working with your clay soil can transform it into the soil of your "heart's delight". See how the compacted clay soil at the Palo Alto Demonstration Garden (PADG) has been changed into productive beds for vegetables, fruit trees, blueberry bushes, and water-wise ornamental plants.
You will learn about digging techniques, determining which amendments and fertilizers are needed, lab soil tests, and using cover crops and mulches. How we manage common soil-dwelling pests and diseases will also be discussed.
