This talk will include a short history of grafting domesticated plants, the physiological basis for grafting, reasons to graft and different grafting applications, including budding. The talk will also include a discussion of factors and conditions associated with grafting successes and failures, types of grafts, tools and supplies, and some how-to demonstrations.
We have invited Andy Mariani, who is a well-known expert in the field of grafting, and whose family has been growing stone fruits in Santa Clara Valley since the 1930's, to give this presentation. He is a noted fruit expert for the CA Rare Fruit Grower's Organization.
